Climate Solidarity member Shawn Rickenbacker recently spoke during a CBS interview, where he highlighted the pressing challenges urban ecosystems face in the context of the climate crisis, particularly in Harlem. In early 2024, Savona Bailey-McClain, co-curator of the Harlem Sculpture Gardens, reached out to the Bond Center and the Climate Solidarity group with concerns about erosion and soil health in St. Nicholas Park. With support and funding from the College-wide Research Vision, the Bond Center and Climate Solidarity group have collaborated with Harlem community partners, led by Savona Bailey-McClain, to develop a comprehensive vision for a climate-resilient Harlem.
